The Josiah Smith Tavern and Old Library Committee has been appointed by the Weston Board of Selectmen to evaluate the financial, physical and legal implications of active reuses for these historic buildings located on the Town Green. First organized in 2003, the volunteer committee is comprised of ten Weston residents.  This past year the Committee has been especially active collaborating with numerous professional resources and town committees developing a proposal for the town to consider at
Town Meeting.  In May 2008 the town approved the appropriation of $750,000 from the Community Preservation Program for the development of architectural plans and specifications for the preservation, restoration, and reuse of the Josiah Smith Tavern and Old Library.
